The
Arc de Triomphe was built in commemoration for those who fought for
France and is located at the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end
of the Champs-Elysees. The 50 meter tall monument was completed in 1835.
Underneath the Arc de Triomphe lies the tomb of the unknown soldier,
from World War I. Visitors can climb 284 steps or take an elevator, to
reach the top of the Arc, providing a panoramic view of Paris.
