The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is the tallest Eastern Orthodox Church in the world. It is situated on the banks of the Moskva River. The original Cathedral was consecrated on 26 May 1883, but on 5 December 1931, by order of Stalin's minister Kaganovich, the Cathedral was demolished. After the end of the Soviet era, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour was rebuilt between 1992 and 2000.
