The historic Bolshoi Theatre is the venue of world famous ballet and opera shows. The theatre was completed in 1825 and is currently being renovated, scheduled to reopen in fall 2013. The Bolshoi has been the location of several historic premieres including Tchaikovsky's The Voyevoda. In the New Bolshoi Theatre, situated next to the original, concerts and performances can still be attended during the renovation of the original theatre.
