Tapas are small 'snacks' that can be ordered in many (tapas)bars around
the city. This typical Spanish food comes in a large variety. The word 'tapas'
is actually a Spanish verb (tapar), which means, "to cover". A tapa was
actually a snack (offered free of charge) which was placed on top of a
drink "to cover" it from flies. Try tapas the way the Madrileños do, by
taking a tapas tour and visiting different tapas bars. Well known tapas
you should surely not miss include Spanish olives, cheese and tortilla. |
