One
of London's most famous landmarks, the Big Ben is actually a
nickname for the big clock tower, or even more specific the great bell,
of the clock. The clock tower is part of the Palace of Westminster, also
known as the 'houses of parliament' and was constructed in 1859.The bell
was cast at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry as a 13.76-tonne (13½ ton) bell.
The Big Ben has become a symbol of the United Kingdon and London,
together with the iconic red double-decker buses and should not be
missed when visiting the city!
