Opened in 1998, the Oceanário was the centerpiece of the 20th Century's last World Fair, themed "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future", and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans. The Lisbon Oceanarium has a large collection of marine species — birds, mammals, fish, cnidaria, and other marine organisms and attracts many visitors each year.
