  8. Cinquantenaire Park Home > Brussels > Cinquantenaire Park

The large public park of Cinquantenaire lies in the eastern part of the European Quarter and occupies around 30 hectares. It was commissioned by King Leopold II and built for the 1880 national exhibition commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Belgian independence. The most famous part of the park is an U-shaped building, with the triumphal arch as its centerpiece.
