Unter den Linden ('Under the Linden trees' in English) is a famous
boulevard in the city center named after its many linden trees and runs
east–west from the Brandenburg Gate to the former site of the imperial
palace. The linden trees were originally planted in 1647, but were cut
down and used as firewood during the second World War. In the 1950s they
were replanted and the Unter den Linden boulevard was brought back to
its original glory. |
