The Pergamon museum is the most visited museum in Germany, being visited by nearly 850,000 people every year. The museum is subdivided into the antiquity collection, the Middle East museum, and the museum of Islamic art and houses original-sized, reconstructed monumental buildings, all consisting of parts transported from the original excavation sites.
