In
May 2005, the city of Berlin inaugurated the 'Memorial to the Murdered
Jews of Europe', also known as the 'Holocaust Memorial'. The memorial
was designed by architect Peter Eisenman and covers 19,000 square
meters. Made up of 2,711 gray stone slabs, without names or markings,
the Jewish Holocaust Memorial is an impressive reminder of the infamous
part of the German history. Visitors can walk through the memorial in
all directions, as there exist no clear pattern. The memorial can be
visited at anytime. |
